What Music Teachers do in Summer...


Participants in 2, 4, 8, 16 . . . An Orff Circle!,will Sing, Move, and Play the Orff way, through sequenced musical experiences with one of Canada's leading Orff magicians! This workshop will provide some scope and sequence to the new BC Arts Education Curriculum, showing ways to implement and integrate Orff techniques into a broad variety of instructional settings for K - 7, connecting ‘knowledge, skill and creativity’*.

To foster student literacy, a variety of materials including poetry, literature, folk material and Music for Children, Volumes I - V (Margaret Murray edition) will provide the foundation to improvise, compose and perform.

Join us for 5 days of purposeful play with one of the true masters of the Orff process. Debra Giebelhaus-Maloney will model masterful teaching, while sharing new ways to integrate music across the curriculum, in ways that will engage students in exploration, creation, reasoning and reflection. Drawing on her vast experience with ELL students and those with special needs, she will share approaches toward differentiation that are needed in every classroom.

Participants will head into the new school year with an exciting new bag of tricks, ready to make musical magic.
